Gaming in India is fueled by organizations that take professional e-athletes and content creators under their wing and provide them with a platform to flourish. One such organization is XFI Esports who, through partnerships, content creation programs, and BGMI scrims, lend budding esports a helping hand. We sat down with the founder Deep Chatterjee for a few words.
What motivated you to start XFI Esports?
I was fascinated by video games ever since I was a child. Watching content creators and professional athletes inspired me to start my own YouTube channel where I’d post gaming videos. Over time, I started live streaming Call of Duty, PUBGM, Free-Fire, etc. but after the PUBG Mobile ban, things kind of slowed down. It was only after BGMI’s launch I found the motivation to get back into esports and gaming, and so together with my friends, started XFI Esports where we now organize BGMI scrims and tournaments.
Tell us about your content creation program
I started the journey of Rooter with very little content. Rooter gave us a target of 100 we have completed this target in 2 weeks. The target has been increased to 200, and now we have 250 content creators onboard with 150 waiting.
How are you and your partners working together to promote esports in the country through content creation?
We are doing our best to promote esports in India. Together with our partners, we try to provide content creators and upcoming rosters with a platform where they can showcase their skills, and grow in a sophisticated environment.
What are you offering that other organizations aren’t?
We provide sponsorships and management support to upcoming lineups and guide content creators with ideas that will prove to be the best for them.
What are your plans for the growth of XFI Esports in the future?
Currently, we’re focusing on content creation and tournaments. In the future, we’ll launch our very own roster, and also plan to collaborate with different brands, get into merchandising. We also plan on setting up our very own Bootcamp really soon.
