The Witcher 3 is a highly lauded game that is available on almost all platforms. In light of that, CD Projekt Red plans to release the enhanced version of the game to next-generation consoles such as the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S consoles later this year. According to reports, the game will come out in the second half of this year.
In their 2021 roadmap for Witcher 3 and associated games, CDPR included The Witcher 3: Next Gen version, along with Witcher: Monster Slayer and the standalone Gwent card game. To help confirm the information, CDPR lead PR manager Radek Grabowski tweeted the same regarding The Witcher 3 next gen version.
Expect ray tracing and better visuals in Witcher 3 on new consoles
The next-generation console version of The Witcher 3 was first announced last year in September when CDPR detailed their future plans for the game. They said that the new version would bring in “a range of visual and technical improvements – including ray tracing and faster loading times” for the game as well as all of its DLC additions.
It will be released as a free update to all who own a PC, PS4, and Xbox One versions, and will also be available as a standalone purchase. Incidentally, reports also suggest that the developers will work towards developing multiple AAA titles at the same time. At the same time, CDPR announced that their main focus would be Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3.
As of now, the development team is focusing their efforts on Cyberpunk 2077, but fans can expect a highly polished next gen version of The Witcher 3.
