Another major sports company is expanding its esports operations into Dota 2. Recent reports state that Wisła Kraków, a Polish soccer club has recruited a new lineup that will compete in upcoming tournaments. This comes almost immediately after a English Premier League affiliated soccer club, the Wolves FC recruited a competitive Esports roster for taking part in Tencent’s popular MOBA gaming title, Honor of Kings.
DOTA 2 competitive roster of Wisła Kraków
This has been in the works for a while, but the organisation wanted to make sure it had the ideal combination of players working together before committing. Wisła Kraków’s Wisa All iN competitive roster for Dota 2 consists of five players, several of whom have competed together in previous tournaments, while also boasting of a manager, and a commentator/host.
- Marcel “Ekken” Hołowienko (captain)
- Natan “Exotic Deer” Michalewicz
- Kuba “Jacob” Staniszewski
- Marcin “Molex” Bucki
- Patrick “Crush” However
- Michał “Guerilla” Dziwak (manager)
- Tomek “Bandit” Borys (host)
All of the players and crew are from Poland. The team’s most decorated member, Exotic Deer, played for numerous strong stacks in 2018, including Team Kinguin and Let’s Do It. As the squad works to secure some wins under their new banner, Ekken will take up the position of the captain to serve the team.
“We’re grateful to Wisła Kraków for taking us under their wing. We believe that our relationship with the organisation will be unique. It will undoubtedly contribute to the growth of the Polish scene and, as a result, the number of Polish Dota 2 enthusiasts shall grow. We feel we have talent, motivation, and, most importantly, we believe we are capable of doing great things.”
Marcel “Ekken” Hołowienko remarked.
The Polish soccer club of Wisła Kraków
Wisła Kraków had a somewhat successful CS:GO lineup, led by Grzegorz “SZPERO” Dziamaek, as well as several FIFA players, prior to this relocation. Now, the company aspires to bring more stability to Poland’s Dota scene while still fighting against top teams and expanding the brand. Wisa Kraków sales and esports manager Mieszko abuz remarked,
“We are really glad that we can build another section within our structures.”
The squad has already been practising together at the team’s facilities and will be releasing some content in the near future, according to management, while also preparing to compete in some upcoming events.
