Valorant Act III new map Icebox revealed by Riot Games
Riot had declared that they won’t be adding a new map to Valorant before Episode 2. Players were still expecting a new map after having a look at all the teasers being posted on Valorant’s social media handles, which consisted of Act III graphics.
Turns out that fans were right, as, for the first time since the launch of the game, Riot will be adding a new map to Valorant, which will definitely refresh the game’s saturated map rotation. Devs will be delaying the release of new agents so that they can resolve upcoming issues with Icebox faster.
Earlier this week, Riot revealed a new Arctic-Tundra region-based map- Icebox which will be the game’s fifth map and will be added to the game with the arrival of Act III on October 13. The map will be available to play only in Unrated Mode initially for testing and will be added to competitive mode on 27th October.
The new map Icebox
Riot describes Icebox as “An abandoned Kingdom research facility in the arctic wilderness is the next location to flex your aim and abilities. Pierce the dense snow cover as an Attacker to plant the Spike. And, outplay as Defender using zip lines to reach new and dangerous heights. The two objective sites on Icebox favor frequent skirmishes, sharp aim, and adaptive play.”
The setting of the new map is in the Arctic Tundra region. The layout of the map resembles a port. The map features two objective sites and the spawns are situated on either sides of a strait.
With so few maps available it can easily lead to saturation. The addition of a new map will bring a much need freshness to the game and players both.
