Stray was announced in June 2020 at PlayStation’s Future of Gaming event where it had an initial release window of October 2021.
Publisher Annapurna Interactive also released a 4-minute gameplay trailer for Stray. It gives a glimpse of the adventure that awaits players as they assume the role of a cat trying to escape a mysterious cyber-city and reunite with its family.
From the gameplay trailer, we can see that the game features interactive elements as well as platforming and action. To progress through the narrative, players will have to solve a variety of puzzles while avoiding danger. A drone called B-12 will help the players in the journey by translating the language of the machines and storing items.
In the PlayStation Blog post, Swann Martin-Raget, At its core, Stray is an adventure game. It tells the story of a cat who accidentally falls into a weird, mysterious city and his journey to return to his family. Exploration is a key element and as we love to add lots of details to our environments, we hope players will enjoy looking for all the little bits of hidden lore that we’ve added across each level.”
Swann says additional information about the game will be revealed in the future.
