Starfield is one of the most highly awaited, long overdue game for the new generation consoles. Long before its first tease, it was coveted by hardcore RPG fans all around the world. As was expected, the game won’t have the same fantasy RPG feel that Skyrim and Oblivion brought to the table.
However, in a new series of videos titled Into the Starfield, lead project heads on the game talk about the lineage of the game and the experience they wish to bring to players.
Starfield will offer players a more grounded Sci-Fi Experience
In the first such video, it was revealed that the upcoming space age game won’t really have a mystical, fantastical RPG world feel, and will opt for a more grounded experience. The developers also state that this does not mean that there is no room for euphoric experiences and in game moments that players can go through.
“It’s got a more realistic, science-based backing to it,” art director Matt Carofano says. “Whereas Skyrim is sort of an epic fantasy, this is a more grounded game, and a grounded setting about exploration. I think that gives us a different take on how we make everything.”
“We always have that ‘step out’ moment into the open game world, so to say,” he says. “Us being able to do that and have it feel new every generation, every game, is something that is really special about what we do. I like to say that Starfield has two step-out moments – it’s cryptic.”
The world of Starfield has realistic origins
The key point of focus here is that the worlds of Skyrim and Starfield are quite unlike one another. While Skyrim has a highly fantastical, vast fictional open world, set on land, Starfield breaks new ground by going for something set in space, but more realistic and backed by science. Starfield is planned to be set in outer space worlds with a depth to how they (these planets) were formed, and what kinds of secrets the lands and its terrain hold for players.
Starfield is a highly awaited PC and Xbox Exclusive game that is set to come out some time in November 2022.
