September 2021 game releases
The month of August saw some exciting releases like Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut and Psychonauts 2. Now with September just around the corner, there are various FPS, stealth, and action games lined up for release on different platforms.

Deathloop is an action-adventure, shooter game developed by Arkane Studios. Players assume the role of Colt, a young soldier stuck in a time-loop on the island of Blackreef. To escape the island, he has to eliminate 8 “Visionaries” who are a group of scientists, artists, and party-animals spread across 4 districts on the island. The task is challenging as all inhabitants of the island have been ordered to shoot Colt on sight. Apart from bloodthirsty mercenaries, there’s Julianna, a fellow assassin whose task is to protect the loop and Colt.
Deathloop is scheduled to release on September 14, 2021, for PlayStation 5 and Windows.
Kena: Bridge of Spirits
Kena: Bridge of Spirits is an action-adventure game where players control a spirit guide called Kena who must transport spirits to the other side. The world becomes more dangerous as she progresses, with many obstacles slowing down her journey and preventing her from successfully completing it. Kena will be accompanied by tiny spirits called Rot who aid her in her quest. During March’s Future Game’s Show Spring Showcase, the developer showed off gameplay footage where players saw Kena exploring the game’s vast open world and various customization options for Rot.
After a couple of delays, Ember Labs is all set to launch Kena: Bridge if Spirits on September 21, 2021.
Death Stranding: Director’s Cut
Action game Death Stranding: Director’s Cut is scheduled to launch on September 24, 2021, exclusively for the PlayStation 5 console. This game brings new vehicles, weapons, and areas to explore that were not present in previous versions. Developer Kojima Productions is bringing a Social Strand System which is an online feature through which players can help each other with equipment, signs, constructing bases for use, and more. The Director’s Cut also includes the Fragile Circuit racing mode that contains series of challenges.
On the PS5 console, Death Stranding: Director’s Cut features 3D Audio, faster load times, and immersive gameplay. DualSense Wireless controllers adaptive triggers and haptic feedback features will enhance the experience even further. Players will have 2 picture mode options to choose from-
- Performance Mode- 60 FPS at upscaled 4K resolution.
- Fidelity Mode- offers native 4K.
It was recently reported that Death Stranding 2 is under negotiation and we might hear about it soon.
Life is Strange: True Colors
Life is Strange: True Colors, the fifth installment in Square Enix’s hit game series Life Is Strange releases on September 10 for Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The protagonist is a young woman called Alex who has set out to investigate her brother Gabe’s death in the town of Haven Springs. Alex’s superpower is that she can experience and also manipulate other people’s emotions- sadness, anger, fear, and joy. Her superpower actually acts as a double-edged sword as it also threatens to infect her own consciousness.
The sequel to Judgment (2018), the action-adventure game Lost Judgment is scheduled for a worldwide release on September 24, 2021, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in single-player mode. The game follows the story of private detective Takayuki Yagami as he investigates a murder. Lost Judgment features stealth elements that will come in handy when the player has to trail someone without being detected. Players will find combat mechanics in Lost Judgment to be quite similar to its predecessor.
