Third party console controllers often offer users with more fidelity compared to stock controllers. Manufacturers such as SCUF, Razer, Nacon, and many others redesign stock Xbox and PlayStation controllers with extra buttons, and features, specializing them for professional gamers.
The first such third party, high performance controllers for the PlayStation 5 have been announced by SCUF. SCUFs new PS5 controller lineup consists of 3 professional grade controllers- the SCUF Reflex, Reflex PRO and the Reflex FPS. Each of these controllers come with unique features which enhance the functionality of the already versatile PS5 controller.
Here’s what the SCUF Reflex Controllers offer
All the three models come with 4 buttons below the controller, which can be remapped to one of 12 commands. For FPS games such as Apex Legends and Call of Duty you can bind one of the buttons to jump, meaning you can move a lot better, giving you an edge over the competition. There is also profile saving functionality, which makes it a great pick even if multiple people use the same controller.
Other neat features include rubber grips on the more premium controllers, improved thumbstick designs on both analog sticks and better materials for more grip and durability. Not just that, the controllers offer interchangeable thumbstick options, including long, short, domed, and conclave, for optimized fit depending on your preference and what you’re playing.
There is also quite a lot of room for customization, as the faceplate trim is removeable, meaning you can easily swap out the plastic for another colour that catches your fancy, or to replace the analog sticks. The thumbsticks are really the focus of the high performance controllers and they come with anti-friction rings for smoother, more controlled analog movement, which can help in fighting games such as Tekken or Mortal Kombat.
Certain specific features to the more premium Reflex PRO and the Reflex FPS include low travel triggers, and rubberized palm grips for a better fit for long hours of gaming.
The SCUF Reflex controllers will launch in 2022 and will be priced at $199.99, $229.99 and $259.99 for the Reflex, Reflex PRO and Reflex FPS respectively.
