From November 30 to December 31, the forty best teams from around the world will compete for the title of Global Champions and a portion of the $6 million prize pool in the PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) 2021. For a whole month, PUBG Mobile fans will be in luck- this is the biggest professional tournament to be held in the history of PUBG Mobile.
PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) – Teams, Group divisions & schedule
Tencent has released the announcement that the group draw for the East and West regions will take place on 19th November. The Eastern group draw will start at 5:30 pm Indian Standard Time, while the Western group draw shall be held from 11:30 pm Indian Standard Time.
The PUBG Mobile Esports YouTube channel will broadcast the group draw too, instead of just the matches. Since YouTube has partnered with Tencent for the PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) 2021, the whole PMGC will air exclusively on YouTube. The tournament is being held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic and thus, PMGC’s league stage has been divided into East and West regions to reduce latency discrepancies and provide a level playing field.
The league stage of PMGC will last three weeks, from November 30 to December 19. The East and West will fight for 16 positions in the league finals, which will take place from December 22 to 24. The best East and West teams will then move on to compete in the grand finals. The 20 teams will be divided into groups for weekday play in the league stage. The specific distribution has yet to be determined, although it is expected to be five groups of four clubs, similar to the regional PUBG Mobile Pro Leagues (PMPL) of this year.
Weekday play shall be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, and the Super Weekend consisting of Friday to Sunday will make up each week of the league stage. The top 16 teams from each weekday’s games will proceed to the Super Weekend of the same week. The Super Weekends shall determine which 16 clubs will progress to the PMGC league stage finals, while the weekday play rankings will be updated every week.
The official Instagram account for PUBG Mobile Esports has provided a lowdown of all the professional PUBG Mobile teams taking part in the PMGC from both the East Division and the West Division, and has also added separate individual bios for each of the qualified teams.
