Indian esports organization NODWIN Gaming has acquired NH7 Weekender and all adjacent IPs of OML entertainment for $9.9 Million (~ Rs. 73,00,00,000). NODWIN will own Bacardi NH7 Weekender, YouTube Fan Fest, and Breezer Vivid Shuffle and leverage them to attract the masses towards esports in India.
Akshat Rathee, Managing Director, NODWIN Gaming said, “The addition of some of the largest IPs in India like NH7 weekender is going to accelerate the massification of esports and gaming entertainment across the spectrum of fans and brands.” Rathee seeks to leverage OML’s foundation to create more IPs for gaming and entertainment.
NODWIN Gaming will handle esports related events coming from OML
Following this acquisition, Ajay Nair, Managing Director of OML Entertainment will become a member of NODWIN’s board. OML works with personalities like Tanmay Bhat and Samay Raina who host gaming content on their YouTube channels.
Ajay Nair stated, “It makes a lot of sense to consolidate the strengths that OML Entertainment and NODWIN Gaming have in the live IPs and gaming spaces.” He added that the company will focus on building content for OTT platforms, talent management, and branded content businesses and NODWIN will handle all esports and gaming-related events coming from OML.
NODWIN Gaming is investing heavily in the growth of esports in India. Earlier this year, they raised Rs. 164 cr from PUBG creator Krafton. They stated that the amount would be used for the growth of esports in South Asia, Africa, and the Middle East and also improve infrastructure and organize several tournaments on a national and international level.
