McDonald’s Malaysia has partnered with Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) for various promotional activities and providing exclusive in-game skins for MLBB players throughout this month. Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is a MOBA game developed by Chinese developer Moonton for iOS and Android devices.
This partnership comes just in time for the seventh season of the Mobile Legends Pro League (MPL) Playoff phase. MPL Season Seven features the top ten teams from the region competing for a $100,000 prize money. MPL season seven playoffs will take place from May 28 – May 30. This is the first time Malaysia is being treated as an individual region. Previously, Singapore and Malaysia combined to form MPL MY/SG. MLBB has a healthy competitive scene with several esports tournaments being organized every year.
McDonald’s Malaysia is expected to announce more details on how to obtain skins soon.
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is a massively online battle arena title that came out in 2016. MLBB has features that similar to League of Legends. Three-laned maps, heroes with unique skill sets, and more. Upon release, the game had only 10 heroes but as of December 2020, the game has grown to 103. The game has gathered a large following in the Southeast Asian region. The game boasts more than 80 million active monthly players. Mobile Legends: Bang Bang has also generated more than $500 million in revenue.
MLBB was awarded the Most Favorite Game of the Year Award and MPL was awarded Most Favorite Tournament of the Year at the 2019 EXGCON Indonesia Gaming Awards.
