Remedy Entertainment has announced that they’ve partnered with Rockstar Games to remake Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne. Both titles are being developed on the Northlight game engine and will be available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.

In the announcement, Remedy said the development budget for these games will be financed by Rockstar Games, and it’ll be of the size of a typical Remedy AAA-game production. “We were thrilled when our long-time friends at Remedy approached us about remaking the original Max Payne games,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games “We are massive fans of the work the Remedy team has created over the years, and we can’t wait to play these new versions.” The parties have previously worked together, Remedy developed the games whereas Rockstar took care of publishing.
Remedy CEO, Tero Virtala added “Max Payne has always held a special place in the hearts of everyone at Remedy, and we know the millions of fans worldwide feel the same. ”
What can you expect from Max Payne 1 and 2 remakes?
Both the original games featured a narrative and gameplay that was applauded by the community. With the remakes, the narrative will be the same but with better gameplay, gunplay, and enhanced visuals. Remedy CEO said, “We’re hugely excited to be working with our partners at Rockstar Games once again for the chance to bring the story, action and atmosphere of the original Max Payne games back to players in new ways.”
