The King of Figthers 15 (KOF XV), the upcoming flagship title from SNK Corp has been delayed once again, pushing its release date back to the first quarter of 2022.
This title was previously announced at EVO two years ago, which was originally set to release in 2020. That was pushed back to 2021 due to the ongoing pandemic, and today SNK Corp has again made an announcement that this title will be pushed back again for another six months by the first quarter of 2022. SNK Studio says this delay comes as a result of rising Covid-19 cases in Japan, which affects the development timeline of this game.
“The development timeline we set out to reach in the beginning has been affected by the ever-still rising cases of COVID-19 within Japan. We have made the ultimate decision in the end that the product’s quality must come first, and so with that decision comes an altered release window. We sincerely ask for your kind patience and understanding as our development teams continue to work hard on KOF XV as we draw closer to its release.” – According to the official press release on SNK’s site.
“There are many fans who are anticipating the release of KOF XV in 2021, however at this point in time, we unfortunately have to announce that KOF XV will now be launching within the 1st quarter of 2022. ” Said – KOF XV producer, Yasuyuki Oda
Even though this counts as the second delay for KOF XV, but SNK has been working to put out trailers for their masterpiece regularly over the previous months. With the recent one being the character reveal for long-absent Chris, as well as for Blue Mary, Shermie and Leona Heidern.
