We know that Battlefield 2042’s new multiplayer game mode All-Out Warfare allows up to 128-players (PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC users) to engage in high-octane action on some of the largest maps Battlefield has ever seen. Last month, it was reported that EA will add AI-controlled bots to keep the servers filled, and now, in their latest blog post, the publisher has given more information about these bots.
Bots in Battlefield 2042
EA states that AI-controlled bots will appear in multiplayer, co-op, and solo mode.
- Multiplayer – AI soldiers are used for server-filling capabilities, making it easier for you to matchmake when you want to play. Players always have priority over AI when playing multiplayer.
- Co-Op – This allows you to play together with friends, against AI soldiers.
- Solo – If you wish to perfect your skills for multiplayer, you can even play alone against AI soldiers.
You should know that these bots are not designed to be Specialists and they will not be able to use Specialities and Traits as players can. But these bots will be intelligent enough to engage in combat with you, revive downed teammates, and more.
EA highlights that players cannot opt-out of playing with bots as they will be used to fill up the servers, but there is a cap on how many bots will be encountered in a multiplayer match.
Cross-play, cross-commerce, and cross-progression in Battlefield 2042
The publisher has also confirmed that Battlefield 2042 will support cross-platform play between PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Moreover, cross-progression and cross-commerce will allow progress and purchases on the PlayStation version of the game to carry over onto the Xbox or PC version, and vice versa.
