Team Alpha and Rohit Jain have qualified for the World Esports League 2021 global finals, which will take place from December 16 to 19 at the Gwangju Esports Arena in Korea, following outstanding results in the national qualifiers. The India Qualifiers were held virtually last week due to the Covid-19 epidemic. The World Esports League 2021 is being hosted by the Technoblood Inc, which is organised by the WSL Organizing Committee in collaboration with the International Esports Federation (IESF).
India’s representation at the World Esports League
In the India Qualifiers, a four-member Team Alpha comprised of engineering and management students – Captain Ashmit Raj, Shashank Jain, Sravanth Saranu, and Harschit Jain as the substitute – emerged victorious in the Brawl Stars event, which saw high-voltage competition between the country’s top eight teams.
I have been playing Brawl Stars since it was released and now it’s a great honour for me to lead the Indian team in its maiden appearance at the global final in this game. I would like to thank the federation [ESFI], who have been very supportive & professional. We will give our best to bring glory for the country in the finals
In the other category that India qualified for the finals, we were witness to 35 elite athletes from across the country competing in the qualification event for the popular fighting game Tekken 7. Rohit Jain, who is from Delhi, wowed everyone with his skilled gameplay and overall performance, clinching the first place, and booking a berth at the World Esports League.
Last couple of years have been really good for me. I have had very good finishes in the last few tournaments of ESFI but somehow representing India did not happen. However, today all the hard work paid off and I am ready for my debut international tournament. I look forward to making this opportunity even more special by clinching the medal
World Esports League
The World Esports League 2021 global finals will have a prize pool of $ 400,000, with the world’s best athletes competing in games such as Tekken 7, Brawl Stars, PUBG, and Eternal Return, among others.
This will be the first time an Indian team is participating in Brawl Stars at the global stage. Rohit Jain has been playing consistently for the last couple of years and this year he finally managed to bag the championship. We are equally very enthusiastic on their debut and confident in making a mark.
