Asus ROG Phone 5 series was launched globally on March 10, 2021, and, like in the past, the gaming smartphone has a slew of gaming centric features which make it one of the most promising gaming smartphones out there.
The Asus ROG Phone 5 comes with powerful specifications and a high refresh rate screen, which go towards enhancing the overall gaming performance on the smartphone. On this gaming phone, there are other features, apart from the specifications, which make it a good gaming phone all around. Here’s a look at all of the top notch gaming features, and what makes the Asus ROG Phone 5 series stand out when comparing it to other gaming phones.
Asus ROG Phone 5 has high end specifications
Right off the bat, the Asus ROG Phone 5 comes with a 6.78-inch FHD+ screen and 144Hz refresh rate display, which not only makes games appear vibrant but also makes for impressive performance while gaming. The phone comes with up to 18GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage, meaning you can play and store tons of games without worrying about performance issues.
The SoC on this phone is a Snapdragon 888 with an Adreno 660 GPU, both of which offer promising performance, at least on paper.
Asus ROG Phone 5 gaming features
Like past versions of the Asus ROG Phone, this one too comes with Air Triggers, which act a lot like shoulder buttons on a console controller. These buttons come in handy when playing multiplayer shooter games such as Call of Duty Mobile, Free Fire, and others. Asus claims that this time around, the triggers have been improved to offer more feedback and higher accuracy. The buttons now support taps, continuous taps, swipes, and slides, all of which you can map to different in game functions. Also, the phone’s air triggers can be mapped to different smartphone functions when you’re not playing a game.
Incidentally, the limited edition Asus ROG Phone 5 Ultimate also comes with another set of air triggers- situated on the back cover, which are akin to trigger buttons on a console controller.
Apart from the Air Triggers, the Asus ROG Phone 5 utilizes gyroscopic controls as well. While this isn’t something particularly new, the ROG Phone 5 takes it to another level as it adds functions such as tilting, turning, and more, which can come in quite handy for playing racing games.
Finally, the ROG Phone 5 comes with improved thermals, cooling mechanism and better placement of internal components, which helps the phone perform better in extended periods of gaming.
Overall, the phone has a range of great gaming centric features which enhance the overall gaming experience on the smartphone.
