Polyphony Digital’s upcoming sim racing game Gran Turismo 7 will have cross-play between PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions of the game, series creator and Polyphony Digital President Kazunori Yamauchi confirmed in an interview with Eurogamer.
PS4 and PS5 users will be able to jump in the game’s multiplayer together but have a different experience with the quality. Kazunori says “Feature wise, they will be the same, but the quality that you’ll be seeing will be different.”
Gran Turismo 7 brings a realistic gameplay experience
Apart from a plethora of cars, Gran Turismo 7 features a real-time weather system through which players will experience changes in weather cycles and that in turn, will change the way races are approached.
Kazunori says “The air temperature, the humidity, and then the road surface temperature will also be affected by these weather changes as well.”
Gran Turismo 7 will also allow players to customize cars according to their preference and come up with their own distinctive-looking machine. There will be options for body modifications, wheel changes, oil changes, and changing livery through a brand new Livery Editor.
GT7 on PS5 will offer faster load times, higher FPS
Gran Turismo 7 will take complete advantage of the PlayStation 5’s next-generation hardware. Players will have an immersive racing experience with enhanced graphics, 3D Audio, faster load times, and higher frame rates on the PS5, and with the DualSense controller, you won’t feel the need to own a steering wheel. Kazunori says “Before there were things that you could only really do with a steering wheel controller, but now you should be able to do everything that you can do on a steering wheel controller with a DualSense controller.”
Gran Turismo 7 is a PlayStation exclusive title that is scheduled to release March 4, 2022, for PS4 and PS5.
