Chinese video game company TiMi Studios, which is a subsidiary of Tencent, has formed an in-depth strategic partnership with Xbox Game Studios. According to the announcement from TiMi Studios, "the two parties will combine their respective experiences and advantages to carry out in-depth cooperation."
Details about this partnership are scarce but what we know is that these two companies will "conduct multi-dimensional and in-depth cooperation and communication with each other to jointly create excellent game content and bring a brand new game sensory experience to the majority of players." The resultant content will be rolled out later this year.
TiMi Studios planned to move beyond developing mobile games
TiMi Studios is the developer behind popular mobile games Call of Duty: Mobile and Honor of Kings. CODM has been downloaded by over 500 million users across Android and iOS. The game not only enjoys a massive player base but also a healthy competitive scene. Honor of Kings, on the other hand, is one of the highest-earning mobile games in the world. According to an April report, TiMi Studios became the world's largest developer after it generated a revenue of over $10 billion in 2020.
The same report also stated that TiMi Studios is planning to go beyond mobile gaming and move towards developing AAA titles for different platforms like PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch consoles. TiMi Studios is currently working on a free-to-play, multiplayer online battle arena game- Pokémon UNITE. It'll be interesting to see what TiMi and Xbox cook up!
