Team FURIA win the Counter Strike: Global Offensive Intel Extreme Masters New York 2020 North America tournament, after taking down 100 Thieves 3-1, in a one sided best of five face off. By winning the best-of-five match, FURIA took home a prize of $25,000 and earned a place in the IEM XV Global Challenge, Dec. 15-20, in Cologne, Germany, which has a prize pool of $500,000.
The FURIA tandem of Henrique “HEN1” Teles and Yuri “yuurih” Santos were too much to handle for 100 Thieves, posting 39 kills and a plus-15 kill-death differential and 40 kills and a plus-14 differential, respectively.
A glorious victory for team FURIA
100 Thieves opened with a 16-9 win on the map Nuke behind the stellar work of Sean "Gratisfaction" Kaiwai, who posted 34 kills and a plus 22 kill-to-death differential.
FURIA fought back to even the match by eking out a 16-14 win on Inferno and then dominated on Vertigo by posting a 16-4 decision. The Brazilian team closed out the match by holding on to win 16-11 on Mirage after leading 11-4 at the break.
The Australian roster's swan song effort proved unsuccessful as FURIA came back from a map down to win the North American division of IEM New York.
The $60,000 Counter-Strike: Global Offensive event began with 12 teams.
