Starfield to be launched exclusively only on Xbox and PC- Report

Starfield, the upcoming space RPG will not be launched on the PlayStation 5 console, according to a report by GamesBeat. This means that the game will be launched exclusively on Xbox Series X/S and PC. Reporter Jeff Grubb also confirmed the same in a tweet.

Daniel Ahmad, Senior Analyst at Niko Partners explained on Twitter saying “With Game Pass now the center of the Xbox ecosystem, it is becoming more important for Microsoft to invest in exclusive content and IP that increases the value of the service and leads to new user acquisitions."

Starfield is being developed by Bethesda, the developer behind Fallout and The Elder Scrolls. When Microsoft acquired Bethesda, there were questions about the exclusivity of upcoming Bethesda games on Xbox consoles. Xbox Head Phil Spencer then commented, "future Bethesda games will be exclusive to platforms where Xbox Game Pass exists."

With the acquisition, Microsoft is aiming for the growth of the Xbox Game Pass service by adding exclusive titles like Starfield. Following Starfield, upcoming Bethesda games like The Elder Scrolls 6 are also likely to Xbox consoles and PC exclusive.

Starfield does not have a release date yet.
