ALEX part ways with Cloud9's CS:GO roster

Alex 'ALEX' McMeekin a 25-year-old from the United Kingdom, joined Cloud9 as an IGL (In-game Leader) role in September 2020 with a three-year contract of around 1.65Million after he was acquired from Team Vitality.

The Cloud9 squad played around nine events under the leadership of ALEX though they failed to even reach the top 4 in most of these events, disappointed by the performance of their squad, Cloud9 decided to pull of their resources from CS:GO with a hint that they might make a comeback anytime soon.

On 26th of March 2020, right after the Cloud9 team was placed at the 17th position at ESL Pro League Season 13, Cloud9 decided to suspend their CS:GO division while also releasing most of their squad including the coach Elmapuddy also listing their roster as 'Inactive'

Now with ALEX being departed, Cloud9 still has some high caliber players like Xeppaa, Es3tag, Mezii and Floppy with an ongoing contract. Their General Manager being Henry 'HenryG' Greer have also parted ways with Cloud9 on April 6.

Since ALEX was under the Cloud9 contract when he left, ALEX had to give back a significant ammount from his original contract in order to take a step back from Cloud9, what's happening behind the scenes is yet unclear the negotiations between the players their organization are not going the right way as it seems.

Though Cloud9 still remains passionate about CS:GO and they've said it earlier that they do intend to return into the competitive scene in the near future.
