Developer miHoYo has revealed details and the release date of their action RPG title Genshin Impact on PS5. On PlayStation's latest blog post, Zhenzhong Yi, Studio Technical Director at miHoYo confirmed that Genshin Impact will be launched for PS5 on April 28.
Genshin Impact first came out in September 2020 for PC, PS4, Android, and iOS devices. Backwards compatibility feature for PS5 with the PS4 version was added two months after release in November. The game is also planned to release on Nintendo Switch in the future.
Genshin Impact on PS5 features enhanced graphics, faster loading times and more immersive gameplay
Earlier this month, the developer said that Genshin Impact will take full advantage of PS5's hardware to deliver a top-notch gaming experience. Thanks to PS5's SSD's, Genshin Impact will have a faster loading time on the console. Additionally, the visual quality is also enhanced and players will experience a more detailed, vivid open world of the game in 4k resolution.
Zhenzhong Yi promised that "In future updates, we will have much more potential to elevate the visual quality and game performance. Thanks to these new systems, even players who've already been playing Genshin Impact on the PS5 through backwards compatibility will see big improvements in performance."
The developer is also working towards integrating all the features of PS5's DualSense Controller into the game for an immersive gameplay experience.
Genshin Impact's success
Genshin Impact is one of the most profitable online games on mobile phones. In terms of generated revenue, it is right up there alongside Tencent's PUBG Mobile, Activision's Call of Duty: Mobile, Honor of Kings and Pokemon GO. The game generated over $1 billion across multiple platforms within six months of release.
