Video game giant Activision has confirmed that their subsidiary Sledgehammer Games is the lead developer of the Call of Duty 2021 game. Activision announced the news in their recent Q1 2021 earnings call.
Activision said, "there is a new premium Call of Duty game coming out this year, it'll have an impact on Call of Duty Warzone, and finally, Sledgehammer Games is indeed the developer." Talking about this year's Call Of Duty game release date, President Dan Alegre said "the game is looking great and on track for its Fall release."
Sledgehammer Games was the primary developer of Call of Duty: WW2 and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. Sledgehammer has also assisted Infinity Ward in the development of COD: Modern Warfare, and Raven Software and Treyarch in the development of COD: Black Ops Cold War.
Call Of Duty 2021 features
Dan added that Call of Duty 2021 is "built for next-generation experience" that'll "integrate with and enhance the existing Call Of Duty ecosystem." This means that the game is likely to be launched on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S and will take full advantage of those console's hardware. Call of Duty 2021 is also likely to include battle royale features similar to Warzone.
Call of Duty is a series of action video games published by Activision. The latest, Black Ops Cold War came out in November 202 for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PS5. In a month, the game had sold over 5 million digital copies and had earned over $650 million within the first six months of release.
