GamersVSCovid brings together YouTubers, Streamers and NBA stars in charity stream
In the gaming community, charity streams aren’t unheard of. In order to fight the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, a company by the name ScrimToWin hosted a 12 hour charity stream on Sunday, April 26 and had a total goal of raising $50,000.
To make the charity stream a one of a kind event, ScrimToWin went out of their way to invite a slew of YouTubers, Esports pros and even NBA stars. Over the course of 12 hours, the stream was able to raise $32,200.
Gaming for all
Along with the YouTubers and esports pros came their fans and followers. These people really helped take this charity stream to the next level and raise money for a cause that will actually help humanity.
The charity stream mainly consisted of bracket based tournaments, with teams competing for the top prize, having some fun and just showing a sense of togetherness in these trying times.
Prizes helped take the stream forward
What drove players to give the tournament their best shot was a slew of prizes for the top teams. This included goodies such as gaming peripherals from leading companies such as Logitech and Razer. Gamers stood a chance of winning high end displays and even cutting edge gaming laptops.
The primary game featured in the stream was Fortnite, which is quite common amongst the masses as well as celebrities. Overall, the stream was to help Direct Relief’s Covid-19 Fund for Community Health, meaning that all proceeds from the stream would be given to this fund.
This is one of the biggest displays of solidarity and strength that we have seen from gamers so far. Such events just go to show that the whole gaming community can come together and really do something great for this world.
