The India Today group, in collaboration with Garena, announced the inaugural edition of Esports Premier League (ESPL) 2021, a nationwide franchise-based Free Fire tournament- a first of its kind. The qualifying stages of the tournament will be hosted Online due to the pandemic, the registrations started on the 16th of June. Since then about a million players have signed up for the championship.
ESPL 2021 format and Prize Pool
The tournament will consist of 4 levels held across 8 cities over a period of 2 months. Teams will fight for a prize pool of 25,00,000 INR with victors taking home a cash prize of 12,00,000 INR. The final and the semi-finals of the tournament will be held on the 28th of Aug, where the MVP and Fan favorites will be crowned each taking home a sum of 30,000 INR.

ESPL 2021 will be available to watch on Disney+ Hotstar and Free Fire’s very own streaming platform Booyah. The live streams can also be viewed on the official youtube channel of India Today Gaming and the Facebook pages of India Today and Aaj Tak. The tournament has been endorsed by actor Tiger Shroff and Infinix Smartphones among others.
