Last year, EA revealed that they were considering the renaming of upcoming FIFA titles as both, themselves and the global football body was in dispute over licensing costs and revenue streams, and none of them wanted to agree to each others’ terms. Now, EA has announced that they’re ending their partnership with FIFA to officially name future football titles as EA Sports FC.
In the announcement post Cam Weber, EVP, Group GM EA SPORTS & Racing said “Next year, EA SPORTS FC will become the future of football from EA SPORTS. Alongside our 300+ license partners across the sport, we’re ready to take global football experiences to new heights, on behalf of all football fans around the world.”

EA’s partnership with FIFA doesn’t end immediately though. Fans will get a FIFA 23 title this year but then, from 2023 onwards, it’ll be EA Sports FC.
EA Sports FC will be pretty similar to previous FIFA titles in terms of gameplay
If you’re wondering if renaming will bring changes to the gameplay, then the answer is no. All the features from FIFA that have kept fans glued to the game like career mode, Ultimate Team, VOLTA Football, Clubs, and more will be available in EA Sports FC as well.
Cam says “Everything you love about our games will be part of EA SPORTS FC – the same great experiences, modes, leagues, tournaments, clubs, and athletes will be there. Ultimate Team, Career Mode, Pro Clubs, and VOLTA Football will all be there. Our unique licensing portfolio of more than 19,000+ players, 700+ teams, 100+ stadiums and 30 leagues that we’ve continued to invest in for decades will still be there, uniquely in EA SPORTS FC.” Also, EA Sports FC will include exclusive partnerships with the Premier League, LaLiga, Bundesliga, Serie A, the MLS, and more.
“We are committed to ensuring the next FIFA is our best ever, with more features, game modes, World Cup content, clubs, leagues, competitions, and players than any FIFA title before,” Cam added.
This is the only information the company has relayed. They said additional details about EA Sports FC will be revealed in Summer 2023.
