EA announced the biggest Apex Legends update at their Play conference; here’s what you need to know
Respawn Entertainment made some big announcements for Apex Legends during the EA Play digital event on June 18. As a result, the fan-favorite battle royale is coming to Steam and Nintendo Switch, later this fall.
The game will also enable cross-platform play. Moreover, EA’s digital showcase also unveiled a trailer for the upcoming Apex Legends limited-time event.
An all new event
Respawn showcased the event during the EA Play Live broadcast and gave a glimpse of what’s coming. Players will be able to acquire a plethora of new cosmetics — including one that depicts Revenant as an Aztec god—or dive into the limited-time Armed and Dangerous Evolved game mode.
The event will feature a brand new limited-time mode, Crypto’s town takeover, as well as plenty of exclusive cosmetic items. While the event’s trailer primarily showcases the exciting content, it also revealed a potential rework for one of the legends.
Upcoming Lifeline buff
In the trailer video, at the minute mark, Lifeline is seen rushing into combat to provide support to a downed Bangalore. She deploys her D.O.C, which puts up a shield wall.
Then, instead of picking up Bangalore herself, her healing drone does it. Bangalore utilizes a cord dropped by the D.O.C and gets revived. Meanwhile, Lifeline continues to engage in a gunfight with Gibraltar, the enemy who downed her teammate.
Currently, Lifeline’s passive ability generates a shield wall that protects fallen teammates and herself, while she revives them. Although the ability is useful, one could say it is quite static, not having the same dynamism Apex’s gameplay is known for.
Portable respawn beacons
The battle royale is getting a Mobile Respawn Beacon starting next Tuesday—and it’s here to stay.
The new item will come as part of the Lost Treasures collection event and will debut in the Armed and Dangerous Evolved limited-time mode, which is a modified comeback of a popular snipers-and-shotguns LTM.
In Armed and Dangerous Evolved, all players will drop with an Evo Shield and there will be no Respawn Beacons on the map. Players will instead get a mobile Respawn Beacon, a consumable item that will deploy a portable respawn beacon to your location, similarly to calling a Lifeline care package.
