CD Projekt isn’t done with Cyberpunk 2077 yet. The game has come a long way since its release in 2020 and while it may be sitting comfortably right now, CDPR says they’re still fully committed to developing the IP further.
In the CD Projekt Group H1 2022 earnings call, Michał Nowakowski, VP of business development at CDPR said “We decided to develop one major expansion for Cyberpunk, which is going to take advantage of all the capabilities of the new-gen consoles. Having said that, we’re totally, fully committed to developing the Cyberpunk IP further, beyond this particular Cyberpunk expansion.”
“We’ve put a lot of effort and time into building this franchise and we definitely want to continue to build upon what was built right now – with new stories, new experiences, new content, basically. Not just the video game format… In terms of expansions, there’s just going to be one major expansion. However, there’s going to be new stuff in the future,” he added.
For those unaware, CDPR is bringing a Cyberpunk 2077 expansion called Phantom Liberty in 2023 and they also released the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime. Phantom Liberty is supposed to be the only expansion the game will ever get but we can expect other stuff like a new TV show.
How much will Cyberpunk 2077’s expansion cost?
In the earnings call, one question came up regarding Phantom Liberty’s price range. Nowakowski answered saying “We’re obviously not disclosing the price at this point in time; we’re going to reveal that at an appropriate moment. Having said that, we did mention this is a major expansion; it’s actually pretty sizeable and we’re happy with its quality, so the price is going to be in line with what we present to the players, basically.
So there you go, the expansion won’t be free and will cost you a couple of bucks!
