CD Projekt Red has decided to delay the launch of next-generation updates for Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S version of Cyberpunk 2077 will now release in the first quarter of 2022, and that of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in the second quarter of 2022.
“The Management Board of the Company hereby announces that, based on recommendations supplied by persons supervising development, it has decided to allocate additional time to both projects. The Company currently intends to release the next-gen version of Cyberpunk 2077 in the first quarter of 2022, and the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in the second quarter of 2022,” the company said in their statement.

Both of these open-world games were supposed to get next-gen updates later this year.
Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 on next-gen consoles
Cyberpunk 2077 might have had a disastrous launch but CDPR has since released several updates to improve gameplay and in June, CDPR CEO Adam Kiciński stated that the game was at a satisfactory level of stability and performance. These improvements also prompted Sony to add Cyberpunk 2077 back on the PlayStation Store.
With the next-gen update, CDPR will be looking to enhance the performance even further. Witcher 3 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S will feature visual and technical improvements – including ray tracing, faster loading times, higher frame rates, and more. It will also include all of the game’s DLCs.
The next-gen updates will be free for current owners.
