Call of Duty Mobile, Activision’s mobile shooter game, has now achieved a new milestone, thus adding a new feather in it’s cap. According to the data analyst site Sensor Tower, the game has made over $ 1.5 billion in lifetime revenue across the App Store and Google Play Store.
CODM becomes one of the top mobile shooter games in China
2021 turned out to be the strongest year for CODM, when player spending climbed by 45 %. The Chinese market, where the game took in $ 104.5 million on the App Store in 2021, is the main reason for this sharp surge. Despite the fact that CODM was released in October 2019, it was not available in China until December 2020. The game received 70 million pre-registrations and quickly rose to 4th place in China.
The mobile gaming title of CODM is ranked 14th in terms of income generation (mobile games). However, it ranks fourth in the shooter genre, after Garena Free Fire, Tencent PUBG Mobile, and Game for Peace (Chinese version of PUBG Mobile) in China.
Apex Legends Mobile and Battlefield Mobile from Electronic Arts are few examples of console and PC game creators who have recently been motivated to make the leap to mobile. Rival game developing companies are now more than ever vying for a piece of the lucrative mobile shooter gaming market. Along with this, game developers Krafton recently released a new mobile gaming title of PUBG New State, to recreate the gaming experience of PUBG PC for mobile gamers.
In the coming years, mobile gaming is likely to increase dramatically. Every year, as more powerful devices become available, gaming titles will grow more immersive and realistic. No one wants to be left out, thus all of the major developers are attempting to break the mobile gaming code.
