Battlefield 4 servers are struggling to keep up following the successful reveal of Battlefield 2042
Just as Battlefield 2042 was revealed during the E3 2021 event, Battlefield 4 servers were flooded with new player request and struggling to keep up with the increasing demand.
Publisher EA says “it’s aware of extended queue times – particularly on the West coast of the US – and said its increasing server capacity and promises it will continue to monitor server performance.”

“We were absolutely blown away by your excitement and reactions to the recent Battlefield 2042 reveal,” community manager EA_Straatford wrote on the official EA website.
“Since then, many of you have jumped back into Battlefield 4 to already get a taste of the return to all-out-warfare. We’ve been monitoring your experience and noticed queue times in the US West region were far longer than in other regions. Good news, we’ve increased server capacity for this region – you can expect less waiting, and more playing.”
Straatford also mentioned that the team will “continue monitoring queue times and will make further adjustments as necessary”.
Battlefield is also expected to bring out a skill-based matchmaking system, the working of which would probably be like, all the players will be put together in the lobby, and then they will be sorted out into two teams based on their skill. That would effectively mean that it won’t be 100% skill based match-making, but an attempt to auto-balance the teams and make it fair enough for both the teams.
Battlefield was revealed with an 128 player battle. Though, DICE will have to find a huge number of players to fill out multiple lobbies. But with such huge numbers, it is highly unlikely to get a fairly skill based team on both the sides.
