EA Dice has finally revealed the title and release date of the upcoming Battlefield title. Battlefield 2042 is set to be the next addition in the popular Battlefield series and it’s scheduled to release on October 22 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5, and PC through Steam, Origin, and the Epic Games store.
EA has scheduled official gameplay reveal for Battlefield 2042 on June 13, 2021. The game will have an open beta across all platforms in months before launch and if someone pre-orders the game, they will get early access to the open beta.
Experience warfare of the future
Battlefield 2042 takes place in a world ravaged by decade-long chaos and warfare and a ‘food and fuel shortage has ignited a shadow war between the US and Russia’. Battlefield 2042 includes advanced weapons, vehicles, jets, helis, and other types of futuristic equipment. Players can summon Ranger, a robotic dog built for battle and the Syrette Pistol can be used for long-distance-revival of squad members. Grappling hooks and wingsuits can be used to reach new places.
Battlefield 2041 includes maps like Orbital, Hourglass, Kaleidoscope, Manifest, Discarded, Breakaway, and Renewal. According to EA, these maps offer an ‘all-new gameplay experience, with unprecedented scale and choices in gameplay’. EA has also introduced a new specialist system where players can form custom-made squads by choosing from Battlefield’s 4 classes. EA says these ‘Specialists have one unique Specialty and Trait – but the rest of the loadout is fully customizable. Choosing and equipping your Specialist allows you to build synergies within your squad and empower yourself to take on any battle situation’.
Battlefield 2042 game modes
The game features game modes like All-Out Warfare and Hazard zone. If you’re playing on PC, PS5, or Xbox Series X, All-Out War features 128 players and for older consoles, the game mode features 64 players. Next is the Hazard Zone, which is a squad-based multiplayer mode (not a battle royale). EA says more information about game modes will be revealed later. Battlefield 2042 will not have a single-player mode. Instead, new content will be added through seasonal battle passes (free and paid) and it will push the narrative of the world forward.
